About this role:

We’ve recently launched an Insurtech pet insurance and services company based in London. We want to create great insurance products and modernise the way people interact with their providers. We’re looking for someone to join our engineering team and build amazing experiences on top of our brand new stack.

Pet ownership surged amid the pandemic, but the trend has unwittingly highlighted how poor the sector’s digital offering is. We are focusing on disrupting and reimagining the pet insurance market by bringing a lot more value to pet owners and their pets on an ongoing basis.

You should apply if you:

• Have more than 5 years of Python development experience building large customer-facing applications
• Have a minimum of 2 years as a team lead owning and leading projects
• Have mentored others in your team
• Like greenfield projects and a chance to bootstrap our technology stack
• Love building and consuming REST APIs
• Live on the command line
• Postgres/Elasticsearch/Redis are tried and tested tools you reach for
• Use infrastructure as code with AWS, Google or a similar cloud provider
• Enjoy working in a team and helping those around you to succeed
• Want to learn and grow
• Have the right to work in the UK

You will be the icing on the cake if you:

• Have already worked in InsurTech / Insurance
• Have experience in modern JavaScript, HTML and CSS
• Have experience with web, hybrid or native mobile development

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with the CTO to define architecture and technology stack
• Work closely with the CPO and Lead designer in defining end-to-end experience for customers and internal-facing products
• Make major contributions to our product as it evolves
• Build APIs to support the frontend, mobile and other third-party consumers
• Bootstrap the dev team practices, e.g. continuous integration, coding standards, workflow
• Help hire additional team members and mentor the less experienced
