About Napo
Napo is a fast-growing Insurtech company committed to creating innovative & transparent products to help every pet owner keep their pets healthy and happy! We are in the business of selling peace of mind and want people to know that Napo is a synonym for quality. The pet insurance space has suffered from low-quality and misleading products, and we want to ensure that all the Napo products are simple and have your back.
We’ve created a digital-first approach: no letters, no phone calls, and no back and forth via email. We want our customers to be able to do whatever they need from our website and app in minutes, whenever it works for them. And if they need some support, they can talk to us over the phone.
The final piece in the puzzle is providing everything people need to take great care of their pets. Whether these are services such as behaviourist consultants, tools such as puppy training apps, or straightforward content, we aim to give pet owners everything they need to ensure their pet is happy and healthy for as long as possible.
The Role
The finance team is here to ensure Napo can achieve its growth ambitions. To do that, we're building the finance team of the future by arming ourselves with the best processes and data-powered tools in the industry! You will be supporting the Finance Director in building and designing systems. It's not a typical Finance Manager role because in the first instance, it's stand-alone, so you’ll be wearing many hats!
We are looking for a qualified financial accountant who's 1+ years post-qualified or has 3+ years experience in a reporting team to join our finance team and support our growth into new products and markets. Sitting in the finance team, you’ll work closely with our claims, growth, data and product teams.
These will be some of your responsibilities!
- Own the month-end close process whilst following up and maintaining any difference.
- Own the delivery of statutory accounts and regulatory reporting
- Support the delivery of management reporting, KPI and adhoc analysis
- Support on monitoring against budget, preparing P&L and Cashflow forecasts
- Support regulatory and investor reporting and board packs
- Work closely with the Finance Director and analyse the sales and insurance datasets to identify trends or anomalies.
- Lead the accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks and payments
- Responsible for balance sheet substantiation
Skills we think you need
- You have excellent analytical skills and comfortable working with a large set of data!
- You can use different accounting software such as Xero.
- You can work closely with the senior members of the business on creating new processes and workflows.
- You can also work closely with our accountants, tax advisors, asset managers and regulatory advisors to ensure accurate and robust quarterly external reporting
Experience that is important to us
- You have 3+ years of experience working in the industry, or you're 1+ year PQE from practice currently working in industry.
- Xero experience ideal
- ACA / ACCA qualified
- Experience with data query/data management tools, SQL, and Access database is extremely helpful.
Behaviours (outside our values 🙂 ) to be successful in the role
- Extremely high attention to detail is a must.
- You like to articulate complex financial reporting in a simple and assessable way.
- Passionate about process efficiency and automation
What we offer:
- Everyone is an owner at Napo; you will receive stock options on day 1
- Flexible and remote-friendly work environment (for now, we would ideally love to have people in the office two days per week - we have a friendly office in central London)
- Flexible leave policy (25 days annual holidays + bank holidays), and you should get your birthday as a holiday.
- Budget for personal growth and training
- Some of our benefits:
- BUPA health insurance
- Pension scheme

Our values:

- Trust and care for each other.
- We trust each other to do the right thing.
- We are not afraid to make mistakes, and we ask for help when we need it.
- We encourage each other; when people struggle, we help them.
